Free Lectures: How are Popes Elected?

Awesome... two free lectures from the Teaching Company. Kind of bad timing to release these though, at this point I'm pretty burned out on the whole Pope thing. I've been listening to the free lectures at ITConversations.com instead. Download it, transfer to mp3, and listen on your commute.

They are definitely worth it! It is amazing to realize that this is the world's oldest elected office.

What do you think of the change in the rules that allowed a simple majority instead of insisting on a 2/3 majority? I don't think Ratzinger would have been the one if the rules had not changed. JP2 has determined the future direction of the church through his will and testament.

Map: Yushchenko vs. Yanukovych

This is a map of Yushchenko vs. Yanukovych, round 2.0. In the popular style of coloring candidates, it shows where each candidate's respective strengths are: generally, Yush in the west and Yanu in the east. (It's too small to see percentages; go to the above link for that.)

God and Computers Webcast

"In the fall of 1999, computer scientist Donald E. Knuth was invited to give six public lectures at MIT on the general subject of relations between faith and science. The lectures were broadcast live on the Internet and watched regularly by tens of thousands of people around the world, and they have remained popular many months after the event." Information about the lectures in book form can be found here .
